“I have always had the dream to pass on my experience and knowledge in the domain of art photography. My experiences in photography have led me across the world helping me to creatively face and resolve many challenges in my daily life. I want to share this winning feeling and show that art is not only for a privileged group but an elementary, basic need for everyone and that it can be used to empower and make a difference in their daily life.’’  Angèle Etoundi Essamba

Essamba Home Foundation was materialized on the vision of internationally known photographer Angèle Etoundi Essamba and founded in November 2009 in Amsterdam.

Angèle Etoundi Essamba was born in Cameroon. As a young girl, she went to Paris where she received her education. Later on, she moved to the Netherlands where she materialized her passion for photography at the Nederlandse Fotovakschool (Dutch School for Professional Photography). Etoundi Essamba gained international recognition with exhibitions all over the world. Her first exhibition was in 1985 at La Maison Descartes in Amsterdam, which was followed by many others in Europe, Africa, Asia and in North and South America. Her work has appeared in a number of publications and is represented in several public and private collections. For more information please visit her website  www.essamba-art.com.

During regular visits to her native country Cameroon, Angèle Etoundi Essamba was affected by the rising number of disadvantaged youth and decided to take action. She has decided to focus on girls since they seem absent in the majority of local support programs.
